Gemma Hayes – Let It Break

Fourth album ‘Let it Break’ see Gemma Hayes in fine form and increasing the song writing skills that she has been slowly developing since her remarkable debut ‘Night on my Side’. ‘Keep Running’ is nothing short of a perfect pop song and ‘Ruin’ with its heart-breaking  ‘What do you burn, What do you keep, You can’t wake a girl who pretends to sleep, Over and over cutting at scars, You need the darkness If you wanna see stars’ is enough to put a lump in the hardest of throats. ‘Shock to My System’ is a good choice for a single hopefully hooking people enough to make them drawn to the album. I can’t stress enough that you should get the album with the bonus disc if only for the brilliant ‘Oliver’ but also by doing so to increase your listening pleasure to the tune of eighteen tracks. With an amazing voice and the ability to go from soft acoustic to a more layered and fuller sound this is Gemma at her very best.
