Hope of the States: Left

So hope return after their, in my opinion, epic debut ‘The Lost Riots’ album which apparently did not sell many copies, I hope this album does because it deserves too. All the boxes are ticked, fans of the last album will love this one, it’s a little pop-ier than it’s predecessor but they still have a dark edge and that is why they will never sell as many records as say Keane. But here there are some lush string arrangements the Verve would have been jealous of and the catchy choruses still hold an element of a call to arms rebel rousing. Lyrically it deals with the state of the world, society, politics and friendship all wrapped in hope’s ethics. The state’s journey continues along its path and long may it do so, as this is a fine follow up to an amazing start.
