Be your own pet: Be your own pet

Opening like the evil twin of the Kaiser chiefs before spilling headlong into a post punk rollercoaster ride, be your own pet rock. Gemma screams her way through lyrics like a bush fire out of control. The music keeps things simple and effective and at times sound as if instruments had been broken during play. This is energy music for hedonistic fun lovers. If the yeah yeah yeahs album is a glass of wine this is a tequila shot (at times taken through the eyeball). Mixing punk and pixies with the breeders the sound isn’t new but the sheer energy in each and every song make it pretty fresh sounding. A ramshackle and startlingly raw debut. As the line goes in fuuuuuuun ‘we just want a good time, we can do this if we work together’.
